Short stories offer space to pause, reflect, and breathe.
Each story shared here stands alone, yet all are rooted in themes of faith, hope, healing, and God’s unfailing presence.
Every published short story includes a devotional companion to encourage deeper reflection.

After years of trauma and regret, a woman serving a long prison sentence wrestles with whether God still sees her tears.
Inspired by Psalm 56:8, this emotionally powerful story follows a journey of shame, remembrance, and redemption — reminding readers that no tear is ever wasted. Includes devotional reflection.
In 2025, I began to write short stories and pair them with brief devotionals. These are published on various platforms.

When a tragic accident leaves her young nephew clinging to life, Dinny Malone stands in the hospital hallway with one simple prayer: Heaven, move. For sixteen days she wrestles with grief, faith, and unanswered questions. As Long As It Takes is a moving story about sacrificial love, steadfast prayer, and the quiet strength God gives to stand in the gap. Includes a devotional reflection with Scripture to encourage your own journey of prayer.

Chloe, a shy teenager, dreads singing at the church youth rally, convinced her voice isn’t good enough. As she practices, she leans on Psalm 52:9 and learns that praise isn’t performance — it is worship. On the night of the rally, she sings with her whole heart and discovers unexpected peace in waiting on God’s timing. Includes a devotional reflection with Scripture to encourage your own worship journey.

In 1984 rural Oklahoma, twelve-year-old Marcy Gibson and her mother flee a past filled with trauma and loss, only to discover refuge comes in unexpected places—a stranger’s kindness, a heart-shaped popsicle stick, and the bright hope of a girl who talks like sunshine. Hear My Prayer is a tender, emotionally rich tale of brokenness and hope. Includes a devotional reflection with Scripture for quiet meditation.

Emma seems confident and bright, admired for her faith — but behind the smile she hides fear and anxiety. When a close friend shares a truth from Psalm 51:6, Emma begins a journey toward honesty and healing. The Mask She Wore gently explores vulnerability, identity, and God’s desire for truth within the heart. Includes a devotional reflection with Scripture to guide your own journey inward.

Trevor, a proud atheist, mocks the faith of his classmate until a tragic accident leaves his sister in a coma and guilt weighs heavy on his heart. In a hospital waiting room, he overhears Lila’s heartfelt prayer, and silence begins to break down his disbelief. The Sound of Silence explores faith, guilt, and the unexpected ways God speaks. Includes a devotional reflection with Scripture to deepen your own reflection on God’s voice in silence.
In 2024, no short fiction was written.
This year was marked by loss, grief, and the passing of my mother. During that season, words were few — and that was okay.
Because sometimes the story is the silence.
In 2022, I began to write short and flash fiction in response to multiple writing prompts and challenges. In 2025, White Fields Press revised the first volume of Celebrate Poetry! to include a section for "Prompted Prose." These works appear in that collection.

A quiet reflection on abundance, gratitude, and learning when to trust God’s provision — even when the vessel feels stretched to its limits.

A simple roadside setback becomes an unexpected reminder that interruptions may carry purpose, and help often arrives right on time.

As memories surface one by one, a woman discovers that grief does not erase love — it reshapes it into something sacred and enduring.

When faith collides with disappointment, one soul must decide whether broken pieces mark the end… or the beginning of restoration.

A tender story of hope after loss, where healing begins quietly — over shared conversation, remembered recipes, and the courage to try again.

Through the innocent eyes of a child, beauty is redefined — revealing that love, sacrifice, and faith often shine brightest where the world least expects it.
